Hello!

You can call me Léo.

Technology has been promoting a worrying dehumanization of what is understood today as "user". When we talk about the "user", we only talk about a small part of people's experience.

I dedicate my work to giving equal weight to the journeys of customers, employees, and stakeholders. I stand up for a systemic vision of the product by designing for the human experience.

Design for humans.

The User Experience Design came on the scene in the 90s with the idea to look past visuals and functions and towards the feelings and thoughts of users. However, over the last decades, designers have been reducing the complexity of human beings to simple “users” who interact with a product.

The legendary Donald Norman has been raising awareness about the importance of wording by saying that “if we are designing for people, why should not call them that? People, person, perhaps, humans”.

What do we humans have in common? We need purpose. People have plans for what they want to achieve in life or are still looking for it. What is your user’s purpose in life? Who is the human behind that user? Does your product help that human in achieving their purpose? Can you help them throughout their journey? How many humans are involved with your product? Do you design for their experience?

The only way to bring the real meaning of the word empathy back is by digging deeper into human emotions.

Human values and emotions are two powerful tools for designing great journeys. When you trigger a positive emotional response, you connect as part of that person’s life. That applies to users, customers, employees, well, to people. I hope we can together embrace the new era of Human Experience Design.
